The DB15 is the largest beer appreciation organization in New
Jersey, but what about the East Coast? Well it's time to make
our move. Bring a new member to the next meeting, have them
officially register, and get a Gaslight beer compliments of the
DB15 Cask Commissioners.
Why sign up for the club dues full payment plan?
Enjoy the many benefits available to club members on the
full-payment plan. A one time fee of only $65 covers all meetings,
plus discounts for DB15 special events.
This year members received benefits that totaled well over the dues
amount. Substantial discounts were provided for the TAP NY
beer fest trip, the Newark Bears baseball outing, the NJ Brewers
Festival, and the Victorian Dinner. In addition members on the full
pay plan are exempt from the individual meeting beer fee which is
now $10 per person.
Ask any Cask Commissioner
for the full details at the next meeting.

DB 15 Meeting of September 9, 2018
by Dan Hodge
Meeting started at 4:10 PM and was a sampling of ten
different styles of beer from ten different craft
breweries in Virginia.
Members present were Dan Hodge, Vince Capano, Dan
Soboti, DJ Soboti, Livingston Hinckley, Glenn DeLuca, Tim
Terhune, John Reed, Ryan Smith, Chris Smith, Dave
Simone, Julia Aquino and Ms. Sweeney
The beers were brought out and tried with attendees
voting on their favorite at the end.
Busthead Brewing Co. Vint Hill Va.
English style pale ale
Chaos Mountain Brewery Callaway, Va.
Squatch Scotch Ale
Center of the Universe Brewing Co. Asland Va.
Legend Brewing Co. Richmond, Va.
O’Connor Brewing Co. Norfolk, Va.
Norfolk Canyon Pale Ale
Hardy Park Brewing Co. Richmond, Va.
Singel Belgian Abbey Ale
James River Brewing Co. Scottsville, Va.
River Runner ESB
Wasserhund Brewing Co. Virginia Beach, Va.
Pure Bred Pils
Virginia Beer Co. Williamsburg, Va.
Elbow Patches Oatmeal Stout
Fair Winds Brewing Co. Lorton, Va
Siren’s Lure Saison
After the vote was taken, the Single Belgian Abbey Ale
received 4 votes, and the Fair Winds Saison got 2. The
others received one or none and all agreed that the James
River ESB was not right, probably infected.
Beers sampled after the meeting were:
Magnify The Friend Zone IPA
brought by Vince Capano
Pipe Dream West to East IPA
brought by Glenn deLuca
Maine brewing Co. Zoe Amber Ale
brought by Tim Terhune
Happily Daze IPA
home-brew by Livingston Hinckley
Grimm Double Negative Imperial Stout
brought by Tim Terhune
Trillium Sunshower Super Saison
brought by Julia Aquino
Fat Orange Cat Brg. (contracted by Dorchester Brg) All
Cat’s Are Grey in the Dark White IPA
brought by Vince Capano
Icarus We Want the Idaho Gold Imperial IPA
brought by Vince Capano, who seems to have a penchant
for seeking out not only high gravity beers, but also those
with impossibly long names.
All leftover beers were distributed to attendees.
Meeting ended about 7:10pm
Special thanks to Dan Hodge who brought all the beers
back from Virginia the day of the meeting!
The meeting topic was to have been single hop beers but
because of the chance to get beers not available in NJ the
Cask Commissioners called an audible and changed the topic
(to the pleasure of everyone.)
