The DB15 is the largest beer appreciation organization in New
Jersey, but what about the East Coast? Well it's time to make
our move. Bring a new member to the next meeting, have them
officially register, and get a Gaslight beer compliments of the
DB15 Cask Commissioners.
Why sign up for the club dues full payment plan?
Enjoy the many benefits available to club members on the
full-payment plan. A one time fee of only $65 covers all meetings,
plus discounts for DB15 special events.
This year members received benefits that totaled well over the dues
amount. Substantial discounts were provided for the TAP NY
beer fest trip, the Newark Bears baseball outing, the NJ Brewers
Festival, and the Victorian Dinner. In addition members on the full
pay plan are exempt from the individual meeting beer fee which is
now $10 per person.
Ask any Cask Commissioner
for the full details at the next meeting.

|Notes on the May Meeting
by Casper Topper
The regular scribe and chronicler of all things DB15, Dan
Hodge, was on vacation for the May 20 meeting so official
club ghost writer Casper Topper wrote the report.
The May 20 meeting was a home brew showdown with six
of the finest home brewers in the area facing off in a heated
duel to determine the best of the best. To focus on the
brewers' skills each had to use the exact recipe and use the
same ingredients authenticated by the experts at U-Brew.
The style was Belgium Golden Strong ale.
The meeting began with a special presentation on the style
by fully certified BJCP beer and mead judge Livingston
Hinckley. He explained what characteristics, flavors, and
aromas make for a quality Belgium Golden Strong. He also
gave a brief analysis of the roles yeast and sugar play in the
brewing process of this style.
Livingston's lesson proved of invaluable help to everyone
present as each was to judge the entries.
After heartfelt deliberation and in-depth discussions each
person independently rated every beer on a scale of 10
(excellent) to 1 (poor). Score sheets were submitted for
tabulation with the following results.
(on tiebreaker with Livingston Hinckley))
Special acknowledgements to Tim Terhune for finishing
only 1 point out of third place and to Livingston Hinckley
for entering two beers. Also official club sympathies to one
member who had all his bottles explode before the
competition. He has asked to remain nameless but says his
entry would have been a winner.
Beers sampled after the meeting included

Collective Arts Ransack The Universe
Edmund's Oast Singular
