Why sign up for the club dues full payment plan? Enjoy the many benefits available to club members on the full-payment plan. A one time fee of only $65 covers all meetings, plus discounts for DB15 special events. This year members received benefits that totaled well over the dues amount. Substantial discounts were provided for the TAP NY beer fest trip, the Newark Bears baseball outing, the NJ Brewers Festival, and the Victorian Dinner. In addition members on the full pay plan are exempt from the individual meeting beer fee which is now $10 per person. Ask any Cask Commissioner for the full details at the next meeting. |

May Meeting Notes by Dan Hodge Meeting began at 4:15 pm Members present were: Dan Soboti, DJ Soboti, Vince Capano, Dan Hodge, Jeff Levine, Matt Chuchla, Livingston Hinckley, Glenn De Luca, Tom Nooney, Mark Ferguson and John Reid. One non-member present was Tim Terhune The meeting was a demonstration of various base and specialty malts done by “mini mashes” A total of fifteen malts were tried so members, especially home brewers, could see the differences of wort obtained by the various malts. Our expert instructors, D.J. Soboti and Jeff Levine, used techniques outlined by the ASBC (American Society of Brewing Chemists) and Maltsters like Briess, in their presentation featuring classic malts from Germany, Belgium, Canada, the U.K. & the U.S.A. plus specialty malts like ,Wheat, Caramels, Chocolate & Black. The club purchased several pitchers of Gaslight brews so members could wet their whistles during the meeting. The meeting ended at approximately 6:30pm Beers tried after the meeting were Kentucky Breakfast Stout provided by Vince Capano Southbound Black Circle Double Cascadian Dark Ale provided by Tom Nooney Ellicottville Pantius Droppus (growler) provided by Dan Hodge Evil Twin Femme Fatale Kabosu provided by Vince Capano Red Brick 22nd Anniversary Double IPA provided by Tom Nooney Hodge’s Scotch Ale homebrew provided by Dan Hodge Hodge’s Scotch Ale soaked with a white ash honeycomb provided by Dan Hodge Orpheus The Ferryman Imperial Stout provided by Tom Nooney ---------------- ----------------------- Members - don't forget to pick up your free DB15 half liter stein at the meetings.
