A one time fee of only $65 covers all meetings, plus discounts for DB15 special events. This year members received benefits that totaled well over the dues amount. | Notes of the February 8, 2015 Meetig by Dan Hodge Cask Commissioner’s meeting started at 3:45 pm to discuss dues and costs of upcoming bus trip to NY Tap. It was decided that dues would be $65/yr. The bus trip to TAP would be $100 for non-members. All paid DB15 members will receive a $45 discount. Dues are due at the next meeting which would mean $120 payment at that time would satisfy both the annual dues and the trip! Individual meeting fee for non-members will be raised from$7/mtg to $10/mtg to help cover beer costs. There is NO meeting fee for club members. The next meeting will be the annual March Madness IPA “bracket” challenge. The “final four” best IPAs from last year will be matched against 28 different ones, if possible. There will be no formal meeting in April because of the TAP- NY trip and the NJ Guild festival at Germania Park in Dover. The general meeting started at 4:05 pm and was a sensory awareness meeting of various tastes in beer. An undoctored sample of Miller Lite was presented first. Next was Miller Llite laced with DMS, followed by Corona as an example of skunking. Fourth was Miller Lite with diacetyl, followed by Miller Lite with isomyl? Acetate. Sixth was MillerLite using an example of old yeast, seventh was the same doctored with (eugenol?) (spice/clove as found in German weissbier and last was a sample of Miller Lite laced with vanillin, found in oak aged beers. Members present were: Dan Soboti, Jeff Levine, Vince Capano, Dan Hodge, DJ Soboti, Mark Ferguson, Livingston Hinckley, Chris Johnson, Tom Nooney, Faith Franzino, Sean Guernaccio, Brandon Einhorn, Scott Reino, Raffi Manjeekian, John Reed, Matt Chuchla. Non members present were: Bob Renshaw, Nick Moramarco, Lynn Lewis, and Rich Easson. Official meeting ended at 5:30 Beers sampled after the meeting were: 1.Brandon Einhorn’s Bourbon Barrel aged Old Ale homebrew 2. Ommegang Game of Thrones Dubbel, provided by Tom Nooney 3. Brandon Einhorn’s Warsteiner clone homebrew 4. Boulevard Harvest Dance Wheat Wine Ale, provided by Tom Nooney 5. Diamond Knot IPA, provided by Matt Chuchla 6. Regia El Salvador beer, provided by Vince Capano 7.Scott Reino’s Rye Pale ========= Upcoming Meetings March 8 - March IPA Madness 32 different IPAs are matched in a bracket busting taste-off more exciting than the NCAA Tournament. April 26- TAP-NY Brewfest Cost of trip for non-members $100 Members fee is only $55 TAP features nearly 300 individual beers Fee includes: coffee/bagels at Gaslight, transportation, festival ticket, all food at festival, beer on the bus. May 10 - HOME BREW CHALLENGE Style: Maibock See Dan at U-brew for info and ingredients. ----------- Annual dues are due at the March meeting. Dues: $65 which includes all club meetings and all event discounts.
