| Next Meeting - April 9, at the Gaslight, 3 PM What better way to welcome the new season than with some spring beer? Join us for a tasting of an array of spring beers personally selected by the award winning beer writer Dan Hodge and supplied by the DB15. Spring beers there are usually strong lagers, often dark in color. German brewers usually call their spring brews Bockbier. In Munich, a Doppelbock is regarded as a strong warmer to cure the winter blues as spring arrives. A variation is the May Bock, which can be paler and drier. Brewers in the US have their own take on spring brewing favoring somewhat malty, rich, strong, warming, complex brews, Also in this group are hoppy American barleywines such as Bigfoot from Sierra Nevada and Old Crustacean from Rogue |
