Celebrating Beer from Europe With all the American craft breweries going haywire and seemingly popping up like mushrooms in a cow pasture, we have decided to focus on European breweries that are truly flying under the radar. Brews from, Italy, Spain, and France will be the focus each month until we hit September and go nuts on German beer for Oktoberfest. On June 12th beginning at 11am we are celebrating beers from Italy by tapping the following: Birrificio Loverbeer Madamin oak aged sour Birrificio del Ducato Verdi imperial stout Abruzzo Almond 22 IPA Birrificio Grado Plato Strada San Felice Zymatore sour brewed with chestnuts Birerria Le Baladin Super Baladin Belgian style tripel Birrificio Italiano Tipopils pilsener What Italy may lack in brewing history, it makes up for with impressive creativity. Today's Italian brewers have very few preconceived notions, and they face few laws or restrictions about how or what to brew. From its inception, Italian craft brewing sought to make beers that are uniquely Italian and even today, the best results are found in beers that attempt to impart a sense of place. The great beers I've selected for our salute to Italy will do just that. These wonderful beers embody modern Italy: a combination of traditional respect for quality ingredients and a pride in craftsmanship. I know you'll really enjoy them. Propino tibi salutem!
