Cask Conditioning Cask conditioned beer or cider is brewed from traditional ingredients, matured by secondary fermentation in the container from which it is dispensed, and served without the use of extraneous carbon dioxide. The special cask of Doc's cider being tapped on June 13th will be on the bar and use gravity to pour. "Cask conditioned" beer is often called real ale. The fundamental distinction between real and other ales is that the yeast is still present in the container from which the beer is served, although it will have settled to the bottom and is not poured into the glass. Because the yeast is still alive, the process of fermentation continues in the cask or bottle on the way to the consumer ensuring a fresh and natural taste. |
July Special Event Meeting Can't make it to London this summer to enjoy true cask conditioned hard cider? Don't worry. The July meeting of the Draught Board 15 will take care of everything as we announce another Special Event - cask conditioned cider night at the Gaslight! The Gaslight will be the only pub in the Northeast serving both Doc's Cask Cider and Linderman's Pomme. Thanks to the Gaslight management club members will be the only group to receive advance notice of this truly unique offering. The supply of these great ciders is extremely limited so get to Gaslight for the first pour at 7:30 PM on July 13! |
