Sierra Nevada Otra Vez This is a gose (4.5% ABV), one of the fastest growing styles in the US. It begins with smells of wheat, hay, and light citrus all of which are somewhat subdued. Flavors are a mixture of malted wheat, grapefruit, pear, and lemon and a touch of coconut. A touch too sweet and cloying for the style that is best served by more bitterness and sourness. Acceptable by could be better. Overall Rating: Average+ |
Firestone Walker Luponic Distortion No.001 This beer is an American IPA (5.6% ABV) that opens with a nose that is detectable several feet away The smell is fruity with a tropical citrus, pineapple and grapefruit with a light herbal compliment. Taste brings flavors of orange, pineapple, mango, apple, papaya, grapefruit with a lovely resinous, grassy touch balanced perfectly by a malt background. It's a very well made IPA. Overall Rating: Outstanding- |
Evil Twin James Beer This is a 3.5% ABV Berliner-style Weisse ale brewed with olives and strawberries. No, it's not as bad as you're thinking; in fact it's good. Nose brings light wheat, lactic sourness and strawberries. Flavors are tart straw- berries hay, light green apples, lemon and olives. Finish is refreshingly tart with a hint of salt. Overall more like a Gose hybrid than a Berliner Weisse but still solid Overall Rating: Good+ |
