| Many thanks to all of you who came out for our first Newsletter event - the tapping of Life and Limb. We set a Tap Room record for most glasses of a single beer poured in an hour and kicked the keg by evening's end! Our beer distributors were so impressed they were able to secure another rare treat just for us - Limb and Life. We have the only sixtel of this beer currently available in the entire state! I will put it on tap this Friday, Feb. 12 at 5:30 PM. This is one of the two collaborative brews made between Dogfish Head and the Sierra Nevada Brewing Company. Limb and life has a roasted malt flavor reminiscent of dark robust coffee and toasted bread, combined with a pronounced hoppiness from the use of bold and aromatic American hops. Limb & Life is an easy drinking 'session' beer - an antidote to the heavy sippers. It is a beer that begs for another glass. It is balanced yet flavorful, hoppy yet not without strong malt, drinkable but still complex. Limb & Life is an extrememly limited draft-only release. |
| Limb & Life is a "small beer" made from the runnings of Life and Limb. The tradition of brewing two distinct beers from one mash has existed for thousands of years. Essentially there is a sparging of the same mash. Warm water is sprinkled over the Life and Limb mash after the first wort has run off, thereby creating a second, lighter brew from the resulting thinner wort. Technically, both beers are "ales" because they are made with top-fermenting yeast. Limb and Life revives this ancient brewing tradition, which is good news for beer lovers everywhere. This "small beer" is certainly not small in the linguistic sense—it is good, it is rich, it is a wonderful ale! I hope you get here early since we're sure to sell out very, very, quickly. I've got more surprises ahead which I will announce exclusively in the Newsletter. Our newsletter numbers grow daily; help that continue by asking a friend to sign up. . As always, please say hello when you see me at The Tap Room. Also, be sure to read www.beernexus.com; it's my favorite beer website! I know you join me in my passion for beer, the greatest beverage in the world......... Cheers! |
