Brewing Co. once made a video
announcing a new product called
BrewDog/Stone Luciferin Golden Imperial
Stout, "a strong golden ale brewed with
coffee and cacao nibs to mimic the flavor
of a much deeper-hued beer. Only 2,000
bottles were packaged, each with a
blindfold attached so buyers could conduct
their own “blind” tastings and surprise
their friends for this first "golden stout"
Not to be outdone, Oskar Blues said they
were putting Dale’s Pale Ale "in the status-
quo’s preferred beverage package - glass
bottles.  Look for 6-Packs of conveniently
breakable & sun light accessible glass
bottles of Dale’s Pale Ale in a bottle shop
near you as Memorial Day approaches."
For the first time in nearly 50 years, craft beer lovers in
Seattle and Portland (O)R can once again experience
beer from the original flat top can. Offering a
Pilsner-style beer in authentic 12-ounce steel cans,
Churchkey Co.,a is on a mission to offer this forgotten
beer experience once again. The flat top can was first
introduced in 1935 and became a standard in the beer
industry until the pull-tab came to market in the
mid-1960s making the flat top all but a memory, To get
the  can just right, Churchkey turned to the Ball
Corporation, the largest supplier of beer cans in the
world. Made from highly recyclable steel, protecting the
beer from both light and oxygen, the Churchkey flat top
can provides an airtight seal and must be opened with a
churchkey. This opener, which obtains its name from its
similarity in style to the large old fashion keys formerly
used to open a church, is used to punch two small
triangular holes into the top of the can allowing for
aeration and pouring of the beer. It's included for the

Women Need Beer -  Light-to-moderate beer consumption might reduce
stroke risk in women, new research suggests. Certain components of alcohol
may prevent blood clots and cholesterol from accumulating in the arteries, both
of which can lead to stroke.

Kingfish is King-  Indians sip only two liters of beer a year, just
one-twentieth the amount consumed by Chinese and less than one-fortieth by
Americans. The global brewers however are introducing new products and
marketing milder, pricier brews to young Indians. They face trouble from a maze

Name Change -  MillerCoors, the company that popularized the light and
super- light beer categories, is bringing a new look and name change to MGD64.  
It will now be called Miller64.  Unfortunately it will still taste the same.

USA Loves Ireland - The average Irish pub in the USA pulls in $2 million a
year in revenue, according to trade group Irish Pubs Global. With 1,200 Irish
pubs in the U.S., that comes out to $2.4 billion in annual sales.


A brush with celebrity is a highlight for a waiter serving any high-profile
event, but it also means the stakes are higher. Surely one German
waiter wishes his hand were steadier now after he spilled a tray of beer
glasses onto German Chancellor Angela Merkel at an event last week.

The waiter, reported only as Martin D., was recruited to carry the beer
tray after a colleague got cold feet and passed off the duties to him.
Everything went according to plan until he leaned in to place a glass in
front of Angela Merkel, arguably the EU’s most powerful politician.

“I was shoved from behind, and tried to catch the beers, but it was
too late,” Martin explained to Germany’s Bild newspaper. Indeed, his
story appears to check out: a man in a black suit squeezed by Martin
as he balanced the tray of brews, appearing to bump him before
setting off the chain reaction.  Merkel's shocked companions on the
table frantically tried to help clean up and offered a dry coat, but the
unflappable Merkel shrugged off the incident and was soon enjoying
the beer as it was meant to be served.
