A touch of steel—a hand—a gush— A pop that sounded far and near— A wild emotion—liquid rush— And I had drunk that English beer! And what remains?—An empty shell! A lifeless form both sad and queer, A temple where no god doth dwell— The simple memory of beer!” -------------------------- Richard Brown Someplace in the world a woman is sitting under a beautiful green tree, as humming birds fly near and she is thinking only of beautiful things, like waterfalls or rainbows or beer. ------------------------ Barbara Colingswood I wish I were a beer bottle I would always have a nice brown tan, to go with my always perfectly molded shape never would anyone mistaken my name, nor’ the labels I wear. ------------- Jay Kathger I just bought a new kegerator, it's now my greatest love. Ok, enough with the poetry, Back to my buzz!! ------------- Stella Bell The drought it seemed would never end, The ground was dry and hard, The men who'd worked for weeks unending, Stood round the empty cattle yard. The last truck roared on down the track, They'd got all the cattle from the scrub, "There's nothing more to do" they said, "Let's head for Barney's Pub." A dusty cloud was all that marked The way they took to town, "Let's move along, we'll be there then Before the sun goes down." The road was long, the day was hot, That was the only rub, But the beer was cold, and friends were there, In the bar at Barney's Pub. ------------ Dan Sheahan Oh it's-a lonesome away from your kindred and all By the campfire at night we'll hear the wild dingoes call But there's-a nothing so lonesome, morbid or drear Than to stand in the bar of a pub with no beer Now the publican's anxious for the quota to come And there's a far away look on the face of the bum The maid's gone all cranky and the cook's acting queer Oh what a terrible place is a pub with no beer ------------------------ Special thanks all for sending in the poems!
