Oh barman
Serve me when you can.
I am a patient man
But I find it risible
That the only explanation
Why you make me wait
Is that
I must have become invisible!

How do I love thee?
Let me count the ways?
I love cold beer
on hot summer days.
I love small bottles
Of special brews.
I love a beer
When watching the news.
I love it dark
I love it bright
I love it at mid-day
I love it at night.
How do I love thee?
Let me count the ways.
I love it best
When somebody else pays.

‘Who has not tasted of Hodgson’s pale beer
With its flavour the finest that hops ever gave?
It drives away sadness, it banishes fear,
And imparts a glad feeling of joy to the grave.

Oh! to drink it at morning, when just from our bed
We rise unrefreshed, and to breakfast sit down,
The froth-crested brimmer we raise to our head,
And in swigging off Hodgson, our sorrows we drown.

Erskine MacDonald

The nut-brown ale, the nut-brown ale,
Puts down all drink when it is stale!
The toast, the nutmeg, and the ginger
Will make a sighing man a singer.

Ale gives a buffet in the head,
But ginger under-props the brain;
When ale would strike a strong man dead
Then nutmeg tempers it again.

The nut-brown ale, the nut-brown ale,
Puts down all drink when it is stale!

Kelvin O'Hara

Always remember to forget
The friends that proved untrue.
But never forget to remember
That beer has always stuck by you.
