Spirits To Visit The DB15!

Anchor Brewing' renoun beer and whiskey representative,
Morgan Ross-Smith
will appear in person at our April 10th meeting!!

Morgan will be explaining both the brewery and distillery
operations of Anchor along with leading club members on a
tutored tasting of many of Anchor's award winning products.

The rich history of Anchor Brewing can be traced all the
way back to the Gold Rush, when German brewer Gottlieb
Brekle arrived in San Francisco  in 1854 and started a little
San Francisco brewery   Perhaps Anchor is most noted for
its steam beer, one of the quaint old nicknames for beer
brewed along the West Coast under primitive conditions
without ice. Today "steam" is a trademark of Anchor
Brewing and as such any other brewers making the style
must call it  "California Common".

By mid-1965 the brewery had come on hard times and was
ready to be shut down.  Then a young Stanford grad named
Fritz Maytag, the great-grandson of the founder of the
Maytag appliance company, bought the operation for a few
thousand dollars, rescuing Anchor.
The rest is brewing history.

In 1993, Anchor Brewing became the first brewery in the
world with its own in-house distillery!  Anchor Distilling
began by making rye whiskey as it might have been by
George Washington. And then, in 1997, Anchor Distilling
began making its unique pot-distilled gin, Junípero.

Come to the meeting to enjoy some of the great Anchor
brews including Liberty, Old Foghorn, Brekle's Brown,
Porter, and of course, Stream
PLUS sample items direct from the distillery!!

This is one meeting sure to draw a crowd - don't  miss it.
