Imperial Stout Winners The DB15 awarded medals to three champion brewers in its Imperial Stout challenge at the January meeting. Receiving the gold medal and besting a strong field of over a dozen entries was the "Princess of Brewing", Beer Nexus writer, Kimberly Strickland. Second place went to the NJ State Fair champion brewer Jeff Levine. The silver medal was awarded to noted beer writer and three time DB15 home brewing medal winner Dan Hodge. ---------------------- |
| Tasting notes from various judges on the gold medal stout made by Kimberly Strickland: Pours a pitch black color with a creamy head, good retention, and some lacing,...Smells of dark chocolate, roasted malt, dark fruits like raisins, coffee, and milk chocolate.....Ttaste starts out with some licorice, followed by a creamy milk chocolate, raisins and other dark fruits, and a bitter coffee finish....Medium in body with good carbonation, smooth, but with a nice bite in the finish.......Taste is superb with smoky hints |

| Is that our own club treasurer, Brian Lynch with Frtiz Maytag, founder of the world famous Anchor Brewing company? Will Mr. Maytag bethe guest speaker at our next meeting? You'll have to come to the Feburay meeting to find out. |
