Next Regular Meeting - Sunday, March. 12, 4 PM
We now know whose beer reigns supreme. The Feb. GB15 meeting
conducted a certified blind tasting of nine porters - three commercially
available ones plus six home-brewed versions. The champion beer was
brewed by Dan Hodge, an award winning beer writer*, who is also an
accomplished home brewer. " I thought I had made a good beer but
there were so many great entries that it was I was especially honored to
have won the gold" he said in accepting the medal.
Per the rules of the contest each entrant used the same ingredients
supplied by U-Brew making the contest one that truly focuses on the sill
of the brewer.
Over twenty DB15 members braved the largest snow fall in recent
history to attend the meeting and serve as a judges in the contest.
Club member Brian Lynch summed up the feelings of many when he said
"it wasn't easy getting here. It took me nearly two hours just to shovel out
my driveway but it was well worth. This was one great meeting!"
