The Best of the Fests
DB15 September Meeting Taste Test
The DB15's September meeting treated members to a massive
Oktoberfest tasting. Ten different beers, each personally selected by
nationally known beer writer Dan Hodge, were sampled and
evaluated.
When the votes were tabulated the Oktoberfest from Flying Fish
emerged as the club favorite, closely followed by brews from Victory
and Otter Creek.  The big surprise was the low rating given to
Hacker-Pschorr which finished well below offerings from Saranac and
Sam Adams.

In the homebrew competition Elaine Ferrara  took the gold medal for
her outstanding pale ale while Jeff Levine won in the professional
division for his great dark mild.

To cap the evening off Gaslight's award winning head brewer, DJ
Soboti, poured members some of his much anticipated Oktoberfest
brew directly from the fermenter! This rare opportunity made a special
day even more so.
