The DB15 is the largest beer appreciation organization in New
Jersey, but what about the East Coast?  Well it's time to make
our move.  Bring a new member to the next meeting, have them
officially register, and get a Gaslight beer compliments of the
DB15 Cask Commissioners.

Why sign up for the club dues full payment plan?

Enjoy the many benefits available to club members on the
full-payment plan. A one time fee of only $65 covers all meetings,
plus discounts for DB15 special events.

This year members received benefits that totaled well
over the dues
amount.  Substantial discounts were provided for the TAP NY
beer fest trip, the Newark Bears baseball outing, the NJ Brewers
Festival, and the Victorian Dinner.  In addition members on the full
pay plan are exempt from the individual meeting beer fee which is
now $10 per person.
Ask any Cask Commissioner
for the full details at the next meeting.

Home Brew Challenge
Next Meeting - Sept. 11, 2016

It a showdown between some of the best home brewers
in the state and you are the judge!

Our next meeting on Sunday, Sept. 11, at 4 PM at the
Gaslight will be a tasting of Double IPAs.  Each brewer
used the same recipe supplied by U-Brew to showcase
the contestant's individual skills.  Everyone in attendance,
(brewers, non-brewers, members, non-members) will
evaluate each of the beer
s and select the medal winners.

Winners will be announced immediately after all scores are
tallied; Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals will then be awarded.

Don't miss your chance to participate as YOU select the
best of the best - Sept. 11 at 4 PM at the Gaslight

Double IPAs

Please consider the following excerpts from the BJCP
style guidelines
for DIPAs in voting at the Sept. 11 meeting.

Overall Impression: An intensely hoppy, fairly strong pale
ale without the big, rich, complex maltiness and residual
sweetness and body of an American barleywine. Strongly
hopped, but clean, dry, and lacking harshness. It showcases
hop characteristics and can have a resinous aroma,
Appearance:  Color ranges from golden to light orange
copper;most modern versions are fairly pale. Good clarity,
although unfiltered dry-hopped versions may be a bit hazy.
Flavor: Hop flavor is strong and complex, and can reflect
citrus, floral, pine, resinous, spicy, tropical fruit, stone fruit,
berry, and melon flavors. High to absurdly high hop
bitterness. Low to medium malt flavor, generally clean and
grainy-malty; low levels of caramel or toasty flavors
are acceptable. Low to medium fruitiness is acceptable. A
long, lingering bitterness is usually present in the
aftertaste but should not be harsh. Dry to medium-dry finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light to medium body.
Comments: A showcase for hops, yet remaining quite
drinkable. The adjective “double" is arbitrary and simply
implies a stronger version of an IPA

Members - don't forget to pick up your
free DB15 half
liter stein at the meetings.  Steins are also available
for purchase.
