TRI-STATE BEER BATTLE
Our next meeting will pit the finest breweries in
New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania against each
other in a battle for beer supremacy.
Mr. Dan Hodge has personally selected the best Lager, IPA,
Wheat, and Stout from each of the three states for this epic
duel. Everyone at the meeting will participate in a blind
tasting of each of the beers to determine the winning state.
According to thrilllist.com New Jersey is ranked #42 in the
listings of Best Beer States - "All sorts of silly laws, plus a
statewide Red Bull-vodka addiction, stonewalled the
development of Jersey breweries for years, but even
though things have freed up a bit."
New York is ranked #9 - "New York brewing is still about
the small-scale local guys who keep outdoing themselves,
from upstate’s venerable Captain Lawrence, to recent scene-
stealer Other Half, to the brewing genius behind Evil Twin,"
Pennsylvania is ranked #8 - "Tröegs, Stoudt’s, Yards,
Victory, Voodoo, Sly Fox, Weyerbacher: all always
fantastic. Iron City: Plus Yuengling: is the country’s
And just in case you were wondering the top three states
were: 1. Oregon; 2. California; 3. Colorado.
According to the Brewers Association New Jersey ranks
#49 in breweries per capita, New York come in at #28, and
Pennsylvania leads the trio at #22.
Don't miss our August 9 meeting where we find out
the real truth as to which state is the best!
