July Meeting - Vive la France !
July 14 may be the date of our next meeting but in France it
marks Bastille Day, a national holiday. On that day in 1789 an
outraged group of French citizens stormed the Bastille, a
fortress and prison in Paris. To them, the Bastille stood as a
symbol of the hypocrisy and corruption of the aristocratic
government controlled mostly by nobility and clergy.
Bastille Day is remembered as the start of the
revolution that eventually toppled King Louis XVI and
the aristocracy. The lasting significance of the event was
in its recognition that power could and should be held by
ordinary citizens, not the king or other royalty.
While France celebrates its holiday ("La Fête Nationale" -The
National Celebration), with a grand military parade up the
Champs Elysées, colorful arts festivals, and numerous parties
everywhere, the DB15 will join in with a tasting of some
of the finest French and French related beers available.
IThese beers and MORE will be tasted Castelaine Biere du Garde,
Belzebuth, Fischer Amber Biere, Kronenbourg 1664, Gavroche French Red
Ale, Sainte Sylvestre 3 Monts, Lost Abbey Avant Garde French
Farmhouse, La Choulette Sans Culottes, La Choulette Anbree,Pietra
Get ready to wave the French Tricolour, sing La Marseillaise,
and above all, sample an abundance of great beer!
We guarantee this will be the largest and best
DB 15 Bastille Day celebration ever!
Don't miss it.

June Meeting Highlights
by Dan Hodge
The June meeting was truly special. No only did members get
to sample eleven summer beers they also got to select
five free beers direct from the Gaslight Vault
to take home! In the first part of the meeting members were
asked to rank order summer beers from 1 to 10. Results were:
1. Sam Adams Blueberry Hill Lager, 2. Leinenkugel’s Canoe
Paddler, 3. Sam Adams Little White Rye, 4. Leinenkugel’s
Honey Wheat, 5.and 6. (tie) Sam Adams Belgian Session Ale and
Saranac Blueberry Blonde Ale, 7. Sam Adams Porch Rocker,
8. Leinenkugel’s Berry Weiss, 9. Laughing Dog Huckleberry
Cream Ale, 10. Leinenkugel’s Summer Shandy
Sam Adams Summer Ale, which was mistakenly omitted,
was judged out of contest. Several members said it would have
been #1 though others rated it significantly lower.
Second part of the meeting was all about FREE beer! Each
member was allowed to take a selection of beers from group
of 45 bottles until all were given away.
Additional beers brought by members were sampled
after the meeting. They were:
Dogfishead Positive Contact
The Shed IPA
Tuckerman Pale Ale
Thomas Creek Inukshuk
