Talking Urinal Cakes

Michigan hopes to keep drunks off the road
with the help from a special message in men's
bathrooms featuring an attention-getting
woman's voice.

Talking urinal-deodorizer cakes have been
distributed to all Michigan Licensed Beverage
Association members  A recorded message will
play reminding men who step up to the urinals
to call a cab or a friend, if needed, to get home
safely. The message is aimed at Michigan men
because they are three times more likely to drive
drunk than women.

The motion-activated messages are part of a
federally funded drunken driving crackdown.
The talking urinal cakes have been used in other
states for similar efforts. The last state to use
them was New Mexico which employed over
500 urinal-deodorizing cakes in men's restrooms
and bars across the state. Men in that state
accounted for 78 % of all DUI convictions .

The message itself starts out with, "Had a few
drinks? Maybe a few too many? Do everyone
else a favor" and call a cab or ask a sober friend
for a ride home.." There are no statistics on how
many people have heeded the warning or on
how many answered the cake back.
You don't say.....

A brewery in the Czech city of Ostava is making beer that
contains .018 grams of edible gold in each bottle. The beer
is packaged in Champagne bottles. Named 'Re' after the
Egyptian god of the sun, the beer took 18 months to
develop.  Only 500 bottles have been made so far, and only
those who specially request it can get their hands on one.
Most beer today is made by boiling grain. However, some
ancient cultures had a very different take. In Incan society,
women would chew corn and then spit the mush into a vat
of warm water where it was allowed to ferment.
German mothers in the 1800s were encouraged to drink up
to seven pints of beer per day in order to make sure that
they were able to adequately breastfeed their children. That
number was reduced near the end of the century, when the
government decided that two pints per day was sufficient.

Much like Champagne & Bourbon, a "True" Kolsch Beer can
only be brewed with a Kolsch license. Kölsch is brewed in
Colonge, Germany, and is strictly defined by the Kolsch
Konvention 1986, and is the only beer thatt cannot be
brewed outside of Colonge
Nearly 2% of the U.S. Gross Domestic Product
comes from the beer industry
Ya gotta love these guys
