Beer Diet For Lent

A Cincinnati man is taking fasting for Lent to a whole new –
and boozy – level. Del Hall, director of sales at local brewery
Fifty West Brewing, is giving up everything for his Lenten
fast. Except beer. Hall is spending Lent fasting, using beer as
his only calorie intake.

Friendly reminder: Lent is 46 days long. Traditionally, it
includes 40 days of fasting and six Sundays, on which
fasting is not practiced. Usually, people just eat fish on
Fridays. Hall decided to do something different this year.
Instead of giving up fries or social media for a month and a
few weeks, he decided to take a step back. Way back.
"Just like the monks used to do it back in the 1600s, I'm
going to do the same thing," Hall said.

"It's not necessarily about the weight loss as it is the
challenge of replicating what the monks did."
So far he's he's lost 19.2 pounds.

Dressing Room Bar

It’s always 5 o’clock somewhere — and for one woman, the
right time for beer apparently occurred in a Target dressing
room. Elysia Johnson, 21, was arrested after she drank a six-
pack of beer in a Target dressing room in California recently.
According to police, Johnson entered Target around 3:30 pm.
and placed several items in a shopping cart then walked
grabbed a six-pack of Stella Artois beer, and headed to the
dressing room. For over an hour, cops say, she made the
dressing room her personal bar and drank the entire six-pack
of beer. After consuming the alcohol, she left the store
without paying for the more than $200 of items she carried
out of the store with her.She was detained by Target’s loss
prevention team and later booked into jail claiming she forgot
to pay since she drank too much beer.
You don't say.....

The Smartmouth Brewing Company in Virginia says their
creating "the beer of the wonder years" which they claim
will taste like frosted Lucky Charms cereal. The brew called
the Saturday Morning IPA is made with a pound of cereal
marshmallows along with fruity Calypso hops.
“The result is magically ridiculous,” the brewery says
Yuengling,"America's Oldest Brewery," is now  "the king of
craft" (are they craft?) since it now ranks No. 1 in the
amount of craft beer produced, followed by the Boston
Beer  and the Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.
In the first three months of 2019 a number of styles are in
sales decline, including Belgian witbiers, seasonal offerings,
pale ales, amber ales, amber lagers, wheat beers, and porters.
A beer’s hue is largely a function of the malts. There are fine
gradations, which brewers rank by SRM, or Standard
Reference Measurement. A light pilsner, for instance, may
hit the SRM scale at 2; IPAs are often in the 4 to 10 range;
red ales, 30 to 40; while an imperial stout be at 100.
Former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper has announced
his bid for the presidency  Beer drinkers and the brewing
industry will recognize Hickenlooper, 67, as the f beer
entrepreneur who co-founded Denver’s Wynkoop Brewing.
Craft breweries are everywhere but most are singular
breweries. And then there’s The Brass Tap. There are 46 of
them in 17 states, with 11 more due this year.  What's
unique is that of its 46 current locations, 45 are franchised
the most of any brewing company in the USA.
Generally, a beer’s caloric load and, to a degree, the
intensity of its flavors  rises or falls with its alcohol content.
