"From Piss to Pilsner"

Rather than collect and treat the copious amount
of pee produced by beer-swigging live music
lovers, the organizers of Roskilde Music Festival
and the Danish Agriculture & Food Council
opted to put all that liquid gold to good use. A
beercycling project dubbed "From piss to
pilsner" invited attendees to leave deposits for
local farmers to use as fertilizer for barley crops
grown to make beer.

According to festival officials the huge amount
of urine produced was having a negative impact
on the environment and the sewage system “but
beercycling will turn the urine into a resource.”

Turning festival liquid waste into fertilizer
isn't exactly a new idea. You may remember a
couple of years ago French design group
Faltazi turned hay bales into public urinals for
large festivals. The twist with the Danish
scheme is that the 100,000 live music lovers
from the week-long festival at Roskilde may get
the opportunity to actually taste the fruits of
their bladder-emptying labors.

Males could just let the fluids flow into in
storage tanks urinals positioned strategically
throughout the festival grounds, but females
wanting to contribute to the project had to use
a P-Mate disposable urine director. Waste
from collectors and specially-designed storage
tanks will go on to fertilize the barley crops in
nearby fields. That malting barley will then be
used to make beer for the 2017 music festival.

A new hospital study shows that the drunker a trauma
victim is the higher his chances of survival. Victims of
penetrating injuries, such as gunshot and stab wounds,
seeming to show the greatest benefit from alcohol.
A couple of beers can provide a healthy daily level of silicon,
which is important for bone health. Beers high in malted
barley and hops had the most silicon, with Pale Ales topping
the list. Wheat beers and lagers are less silicon-rich.
According to anthropologist Alan Eames. it wasn't until the
late 1700s that beer became a male-dominated drink in both
production and consumption.
Beer contains a surprising variety of proteins: at least 62,
forty of which come from yeast. These proteins are key in
supporting beer's foamy head,

Ben Franklin NEVER said "Beer is proof that god loves us
and wants us to be happy" despite common belief. What he
really wrote was "Behold the rain which descends from
heaven upon our vineyards, there it enters the roots of the
vines, to be changed into wine, a constant proof that God
loves us, and loves to see us happy."
