From Bottles to Growlers- beer reviews by SANDY FELD, certified taster
Elysian Avatar Jasmine IPA

Malts dominate the nose, with sweet and yeasty tones.  First sip brings a
faint grapefruit hop presence with strong caramel malts in a floral base  .
The beer quickly becomes sweet and full of  jasmine notes.  The finish is
smooth but oily and sweet.  An interesting brew but not for anyone
looking for a traditionally hoppy IPA.

Overall rating: above average
Southern Tier Choklat

This imperial stout pours opaque black with just a hint of a
dark tan head.  The nose instantly brings whiffs of
wonderful chocolate, roast malt and caramel. A variety of
chocolate flavors are present throughout - milk chocolate  up
front followed by rich, dark chocolate overtones. The finish
brings bitter chocolate notes with just a touch of grassy hops
with traces of  alcohol.
Think a candy bar with aan 11% ABV kick.

Overall Rating -  outstanding

Ellicottville Blueberry Beer

Straw yellow color, appropriately carbonated
for a fruit beer.   Berries dominate the nose
but in a somewhat complex citrus
background.  First sip quickly shows there  is
more to this beer than the berries as malt,
wheat and faint hop flavors emerge.  The
finish is crisp and clean as the light
sweetness of mid taste quickly dissipates.

Overall ratting -  good
